When I first heard about this show a few months back I just had to buy a ticket because of the all star line up. The show itself was also a fund raising night for ARCH North East a charity that helps anyone who has been affected by rape or sexual abuse. Click here for more details on ARCH. The night started with Talk Like Tigers a duo consisting of twin sisters Charlotte and Stephanie Walker from Newcastle. They kicked the set off with the song Animalistic a song I have listened to many time since I first saw them a few months back in Stockton. The duo perform a sound that you will love if you’re into synth pop music. With a perfectly crafted backing track added on top of the synth you’ve got the recipe for music you can dance along to. Which is what the duo them self are known to do during the set with dance routines that add to the whole vibe of the performance. The second act was Teesside’s very own Head Of Light Entertainment it’s fair to say that this group have left a big mark in the local music scene in 2017 starting the year with the release of the third studio “Drool” followed by many high profile shows around Teesside such as an Album Launch, Opening up for Dodgy’s Nigel Clark, Being one of the first acts to perform at new venue Whole Latte Love, Being added to songs of Northern Britain and this very show. They played with in the unique style that I and many have come to really enjoy. They mostly performed songs from the latest album and a few from past albums. The crowd was a new one for the band so it was interesting to see how they would react to the madness on the stage. The bands quick wit and musical style seemed to have gone down very well. The third act was Billingham duo Mouses I haven’t had many chances this year so I was happy to jump to the chance to see them perform at this show. Plenty of the bands followers turned up just in time to see them perform. They kicked the set of with one of the newer songs Jackanory which turns out is the best way to kick the set off it has the catchiness expected from a Mouses. From start to finish they put on a show filled with all the guitar swinging energy and on and off stage antics that we fans always love to see from the duo. They finished the set with another newer song called Worm. The song last over eight minutes and the performance was packed with brilliant yet over the top moments including getting people to sing along to the chorus which is hard to get out of your head once you hear it vocalist Ste jumping around and swinging his guitar like a baseball bat. Another memorable set from the guys. The headline act The Jar Family were up now and it’s easy to see why so many people enjoy this band they play in many different styles from Blues, Indie Rock, Folk and Pop Rock depending on which member of the band is singing lead vocals at the time. The set had The Jar Family fans who turned up dancing from start to finish. They even attracted some of the people who were down stairs at the time of the show to come up and join in on the fun. Over all the show was a success and even though I didn’t win the raffle I had an absolute blast. Still wish I won that raffle that prize looked like it was made for me and you all know it.
